christina aguilera's voice hiatus,Christina Aguilera will take an entire season off coaching duties on The Voice so she can concentrate on her music.

It was announced today that the 31-year-old pop star and fellow coach Cee Lo Green will be replaced by Colombian singer Shakira and R&B star Usher for season four of the show.

Aguilera and Green are said to be returning for season five of the reality singing contest.The move comes as Aguilera is set to release her new album in November and then go on tour, while Green is developing a scripted comedy series for NBC based on his life.

'Being a coach on The Voice is a wonderful experience and the relationship amongst us all is like an extended family,' Christina said in a statement today.

'As I have expressed since day one of the show, that I am a singer and performer first and I am so excited to get back to that love.'Since this year NBC and The Voice have decided to tape back-to-back seasons, requiring a full-year commitment, it is important for me to take Season 4 off, allowing me to support my music that my fans have been waiting for.'

Fellow coaches Adam Levine and Blake Shelton will remain in their swivel seats, but will have two new partners in crime in the form of Shakira and Usher.

'We are thrilled to welcome Usher and Shakira to The Voice. The addition of these popular iconic artists continues the tradition established by Christina, Cee Lo, Adam and Blake,' NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt also said in a statement today.'Doing two back-to-back cycles of this show requires a tremendous amount of time, and we are happy to accommodate the commitments made by Christina and Cee Lo.

'The participants on our show benefit from our coaches’ expertise and their continued success in the music business allows for significant new contributions to the contestants when they return.'
Cee Lo also expressed his excitement about his new endeavours.

'I’m highly enthusiastic about focusing my undivided attention on my additional endeavors and interests,' he said.'I will return for Season 5 and will be watching Season 4. NBC is home, and as far as Usher and Shakira are concerned mi casa su casa.'

The line-up change for The Voice follows the announcement on Sunday that rapper Nicki Minaj and country star Keith Urban will join rival Fox TV singing contest American Idol when it returns in January 2013.
Mariah Carey has also signed up for Idol.

Usher, best known for his 2004 album Confessions is one of the world's best-selling artists with global sales of 65 million record and seven Grammy awards.Shakira burst onto the international pop scene with her 2006 single Hips Don't Lie.

The Voice has been a bright spot in struggling NBC's schedule since its 2011 debut, and moved to a twice a year cycle this month.

Its third season opener last week notably drew more U.S. viewers than the revamped version of Fox's The X Factor with Britney Spears making her debut as a judge.
